I think this is an exciting scheme - I know it'll be massively competitive but fair play to the Beeb for trying to bring people along. Is there a nice helpful thread somewhere on BSG about comedy CVs? I'd like a quick look at that, I would.

The great thing about my comedy CV is that it hasn't changed a jot since last year, so I don't have to go to all the hassle of updating it... that is a great thing, isn't it?

Possibly for any other entrants, yeah. ;)

Didn't you go to the BBC workshops? I'd stick that somewhere.

I bet you would.

I'm a little torn.

I've a sitcom script that I'm working on that I'm very proud of and would dearly like to submit for this...

However...

I submitted a different version of the same concept to the BBC talent scheme about five years back. Did quite well with it, got to the final sixteen, if not final eight.

Certainly, this was seen by Micheal. So I'm not sure whether it would count as a concept already discarded. I've got a vague idea for something else, but could I get that up to scratch in time...

Decisions, decisions...

oo me too, and I was thinking of polishing that script, but now you've said this... not to sure now...

Hmm... guess back to sketchs...

An exciting scheme but unfortunately I will have to wait until at least!! next year before I get rejected as I've never had anything broadcast or commissioned *sad face*

I'd try and come up with something new, unless you've radically improved on the idea.

Well, if it's a different version, then I would have said it's fair game to go ahead and submit it. I'd also guess that these submissions are more for the CoC team to guage your talent and suitability for the scheme, than necessarily what you'll end up actually working on at any point, so the fact you've got so far previously is a good indicator of your work's quality.

The submissions are meant to be samples of your best work rather than something for development, but don't forget to change the date on the front of the script!

This may sound a stupid question but what actually counts as "profesional success"

I would say it means credits; probably more specifically broadcast credits; such as having had material on the radio/TV/etc.

From the original release:

"Applicants will have had their work broadcast; had work commissioned for development by a broadcaster or production company; or had their work performed professionally, either as a writer or a writer/performer."

To be honest, the idea wasn't the problem...
