I'm surprised that they ever managed to pull off 'Street' at all. Just how do you go about taking photos of, like, everywhere, and then stitch them all together? I'm guessing they had some smart method of catalouging them all; but how long did it take to get all the photos? Have they ever been checked? Etc?

They drive a car around with a special camera on the top. No doubt each lens detects its angle, exact lat/long position, and the direction it's pointed in. Their software then stitches them together intelligently.
The following image would seem to suggest that some form of automatic face blurring takes place though I think we can still work out that it's Colonel Sanders.
DANG! I've just spotted that Aaron beat me to this a page ago.
That exact KFC. But from a better angle.
(And yes, it is automatic. And certainly not infallible, as that proves!)
Google Street View now covers Ireland and parts of Brazil and Antarctica.

Does it cover Texas?
I fear the cars would be, being constantly shot at.

We don't shoot anything unless we plan to eat it and geeks taste terrible.

Nice house. I see you live near a street called Beaver Creek; what's the best joke that anyone's come up with over the years based on that name?
Lots of innuendo but I've never heard an actual joke. One guy did come up with a BC gang hand signal, however.
We gather on that street and drink beer every Friday afternoon, that's where I'll be 8 hours from now.
I'm coming to stalk you DaButt!

SXSW is March 16-20.
I know I know. I will come one year!!
Nice avatar Ellie! I used to have one of those (not an avatar), vicious little bastards.
Thanks Nil! Been bitten have you?
Many a time. The are amazing escape artists too. We'd often find my downstairs after it had squeezed through the bars of it's cell cage. I ended up having to put the cage in the bath overnight (no water) and I'd find him in the morning, running up the side before sliding back down.
