Whilst writing, I kinda find myself going through, not only the thought process but experiencing emotionally what the characters themselves feel, am I getting too involved?
Whilst writing, I kinda find myself...
Do you write a lot of sex scenes?
Nah, seriously.... Yeah, I reckon you need to identify with a character and feel what they feel (to an extent) to be able to write what they do next.
I go further than that. I get the background music playing in my head!

lol, that tickled me
I remember having a character and when ever I thought of something funny to happen to him, I would take it and laugh in my head as if he was someone I knew. That sounds like I've gone a bit dotty.
Your characters obviously cannot write comedy - and yes, you are experiencing what the characters themselves feel.
It is not so much emotional identity, but rather the failure of your literary/comedic efforts which I have laughed at for the wrong reasons.
It's a shame that we are witnessing your slide into the bowels of comedy writing. You obviously need psychiatric help. Your parents probably did'nt (or don't) give you enough attention. This thread is clearly a 'cri de coeur' and probably the result of a failed relationship or rejection slip of some kind.

Hi Random
I'm a bit like that too. I like to think of it as 'Method Writing'
As with actors, some can no doubt switch it on and off, while others, like us, are a bit weird.
I've also noticed that when I try to put dialogue I've actually said or heard into a script it rarely works (as, alas, I'm not Mike Leigh or Woody Allen). However, after I've written something, I occasionally find myself saying that dialogue in random conversations later. I guess because it's been in my head so much.
And before you say it Mikey J, yes I should write more sex scenes, in that case.

I like to write sex scenes whilst having sex. That way, the writing comes across as more believable.
Is that why you like to write about prostitutes?

Darn you writers and your ready wit. I'll have to go and write another pilot now just to come up with a 'snappy' comeback! See you in six weeks!
Ha! I was wondering who Jane Perrin was. Shows how observant I an (not) of usernames.
