The Works - seeking sketch writers! Page 13

Didn't Isabel say, a few posts back, that the next one would be in November?

Hopefully, next time, I'll get time to contribute something.

Richard Herring's take on the evening:

Warming Up

Hi, I've not posted before so apologies to everyone if this comes out backwards or something.

Jane I am coming out of my lurkers hedge to say hello as drunkenly promised on Friday. HI!

Ok, going back in now...

I noticed Steve mentioned on the other thread that it's the last one. Is that right? I thought they'd be at least one more.

Jx

Who me?

No I was just referring to 'the last show', as in the previous one

Steve Sunshine, the man who inadvertently killed off Fawlty Towers, The Office, Teenage Kicks, etc just from the confusion of posting...

:)

Uh oh - Spaghettio!

Clumsy me.

:$ :O

Good to put some faces to some more BCG names and share a few drinks, plus also a very enjoyable show to watch (helped by our sketches all going down well).

Great cast and having chatted to various cast/production team members afterwards they were also a really nice bunch who were very enthusiastic about the writers.

For those who didn't get in this time, I wouldn't be too downhearted as:
a) there was a deluge of sketches - not that far behind Radio 4 open door shows
b) there was a very high standard of material; highest I've ever seen on a stage show (helps when you have some TV writers involved I suppose!)

Also nice to see a massive queue outside a show I've written for...

Hi Jules

You've officailly broken your duck so we can no longer refer to you as a lurker. Mind you don't get hooked now, or you'll never have time to write comedy again.

Well done again on your sketch though - it was great fun.

See you at the next one. And good luck in all your projects.

:)

I don't want to disillusion you TP but I think they may have been expecting a live sex show.

:)

Damn, missed my chance to throw myself at Richard Herring's feet (grew up on TMWRNJ. Ah, memories). Did so once with Stewart Lee. Had the script 'Dealer's Choice' by Patrick Marber with me at the time. Is that vaguely faux pas-ish? Oh who cares.

Don't worry Yacob. I'm sure, if anything, it brought the two of you "Closer"

Aaaah, forums are fun. :D

Hey Jules, if you had said hello to Stewart Lee first then I could have said hello "After Miss Julie".

Well that's the Marber play route thankfully exhausted. Unless anyone else is dull enough to have a go.

Hi Jules. I think we spoke briefly in the pub. I had not realised that the 50's housewife sketch was yours. It went down really well - and a perfect part for Isabel.

Had scads of fun at this. Great performances and some top notch writing. Lovely to meet those of you who came along, albeit however briefly. Hope to speak to you properly on Saturday.

Hey Mr Producer... Good to meet you t'other night :) Now, would this be the long-haired owl gentleman or the rather shorter haired ornithological enthusiast? Came across these boards a few weeks before the show but was too damn' yellow to post Smarmy Glad everyone that came enjoyed the night - shame I didn't speak up on here sooner as it sounds like there was quite the gathering there! I did the 'audio commentary' runner by the way for anyone that remembers it :)

The shorter haired one, and thank you for such a polite way of describing my hair "style"...
