Current radio comedy Page 63

Enjoying Sarah Millican's Support Group at the moment. It is not often you get to hear the word "boob" broadcast at 10.15 in the morning.

Sky +'d it and will listen tonight.

It's actually a repeat of the last series.

Even more of a YAAAAAWN in that case then!

First time in the six thirty slot for this series, though?

I believe so yes, and the episodes will also be repeated on Radio 4 Extra as well.

The beeb made it sound like it was a new series, rather than a 'new to this slot'. I was disappointed, I expect new stuff at 6.30.

That said, this Clare was new to me. It's a very predictable nuts and bolts sitcom, but I enjoyed it.

Even though I wasn't impressed by the TV program at all, I think Down The Line is one of my new favourite radio comedies. Plenty of laugh out loud moments throughout.

Just listened to the first two episodes of The Simon Day Show. Not too funny, which is a shame, as I enjoy his characters on DTL.

Yes, he seems to work better as part of an ensemble rather than carrying an entire show on his own.

Arthur Smith's thing was a nice easy listen, but the best new comedian winner was poor.

Who was the guy singing the "He makes you look fat" song? It went on for ever and I had to turn it off.

I went to check on some cooking bacon when that was on. Comedy songs rank lower than improv in my eyes.

That would be Nick Helm by the sounds of it. It goes down really well in live clubs, but there's something about the radio that kills comedy songs dead. Maybe it's because you don't get to see the performance, which is often half the thing (i.e. audience member being inappropriately propositioned).

I could not agree more. I despise 95% of them. :(

I'm just about to listen to Sarah Millican's Support Group Ep 1. Will report back in a bit.
