This years Christmas radio offerings have been fairly uninspired. Cabin Pressure was okay, but nothing we haven't heard dozens of time before. And I'm getting a bit sick of the 15 Minute Musicals. They're like Newsjack but with songs.

Not sure if there hav been any other specials. If there have, they haven't made much of an impression.

On New Year's Eve there is a special "review edition" of The News at Bedtime so there is more stuff to come.

Despite reservations about the rest of the series, I really enjoyed tonight's Sweeny Todd inspired 15 Minute Musical. Good stuff.

An enjoyable ISIHAC tonight, especially considering Jack Dee's cock-up.

I saw that one being recorded. Was aces.

It helped that they were able to marry a parody of an excellent musical with a neat comic idea. Still, overall the series was better than the News at Bedtime series last year.

I thought the cock up is what made it all the more enjoyable. These latter series of ISIHAC have become a little bit samey, so it was nice to have something to break that.

I nearly drove into a wall tonight trying to switch off that Rufus Hound / Julian Clary thing before my ears committed suicide at the staggering banality of it all.

It does take insipidity to new heights. And they always have the same guests on these shows.

Hardly current but I just heard Little Britain on Radio 7 for the first time. Very funny. They should transfer it to TV.

The new year's edition of 'The News at Bedtime' was well worth listening to.

As an aside, can anyone tell me the radio programme which closed with Tony Ferrino's 'Bigamy at Christmas'? Probably during the week before Christmas.

Interesting edition of Mark Thomas - The Manifesto, especially when he said the show was back for a second series. It's actually the third.

He's always worth a listen, but as ever I wish there were a few policies from people other than lefty liberals. For example, it would have been entertaining to hear more from the guy who wanted to sterilise anybody who had been unemployed for over 12 months.

PMQs?

You do realise this is Radio Four?

And you do realise that this programme is hosted by Mark Thomas.

He doesn't have to agree with them, and he's free to shoot them down in flames, but it would make for a more interesting mix if some of the ideas came from the right of the political spectrum. And I say this as a lefty liberal.

Possibly. Perhaps the problem is that there appears to be no right-wing equilivant of someone like Mark Thomas or Rob Newman. I don't recall any right-wing comedic activists.

Possibly. But that doesn't mean Mark Thomas or Rob Newman (if he ever got another show!) couldn't have people on with opposing views.

Trying to find words to express my excitement that a new series of Ed Reardon's week starts tomorrow ... but no.

Although it's mixed with trepidation that this might be the series that turns out to be not quite as good as the last. I suppose it has to happen sometime - we should prepare ourselves for that.
