John Lloyd was more interesting than funny on Never Seen Star Wars last night. Although clearly he's a thoroughly decent chap, and somebody it would be good to have a pint with. If I was the sort to "have pints".

I once did have a drink with him when I went backstage at a QI recording. He is a very nice chap, although I have a feeling I bored him rather.

:)

One day we'll have to start a thread on the greatest comedy producers. He'd be up there.

You're sooooo sophisticated.

I think he would be. Dirk Maggs and Bill Dare would probably be there as well.

I wish. I just have to contend with being a veiled snob. I wish I had a salary comensurate with such a philosophy.

Must try and remember to listen to ep 1 of the new Mark Steel series tonight. 6.30pm. Remember remember.

I remembered!
Is "I've never seen Star Wars" still on, I keep forgetting to listen to it :(
Also, new series of Museum of Curiosity starts soon!

I've Never Seen Star Wars is on the iPlayer, but whether or not it is still on is a question of some debate. The final episode, featuring Kate Adie, looks like it is not going to be shown for some reason.

The third "gallery" of The Museum of Curiosity, begins on 10th May and will feature Jon Richardson as the series curator. One episode has been been recorded so far and featured Sir Terry Pratchett, Marcus Chown and Shappi Khorsandi as guests.

Ah, un-airable episodes of shows doesn't help with the confusion.
I applied for tickets the for the later recordings of Museum of Curiosity, mainly because of Jon Richardson.

Seems there is a good choice in the nominations for this year's Sony Awards - even a BCG podcast has been nominated. https://www.comedy.co.uk/news/story/00000279/sony_radio_awards_2010_nominees/

Also, according to Broadcast, "Rudy's Rare Records" is to be adapted for TV.

Just listened to I've Never Seen Star Wars and specifically John Lloyd doing stand up.

Not sure he realised that you're not supposed to just get up on stage and tell 5 minutes of the hackiest pub style jokes that you've managed to cull from years of being a comedy producer.

No, his material wasn't exactly outstanding, but he has an engaging personality that people warm to, which is probably why he didn't die on his arse.

Admittedly he did say that he didn't do anything original for fear of dying horribly but what's the point of wanting to try stand up and then not doing it properly?

He didn't do stand up he ended up doing some sort of comedy karaoke.
