Is that the royal 'we'? Because it was recorded in front of an audience and many of the rounds are clearly designed to get laughs. And it's funnier than Quote Unquote.

I think this maybe something you best take up with Mark.

It's all kickin' off! :D

Round 2. Ding Ding.

The Write Stuff is classed on the BBC website as comedy.

I didn't enjoy Mark Thomas as much this week. The suggestions seemed lifeless and he came across as hectoring. Although the bit about him not caring about smokers did make me laugh.

Is it? It's under "Entertainment" and "Arts, Culture & the Media" according to the programme database as far as I can see.

Apart from the extremely weak couple of scripted gags at the start, it seems to just be a quiz about literature as far as I can tell?!? No comedians as guests, no attempts at being funny the panellists, nothing funny at all?!? I don't think we could ever include it in our schedule as a 'comedy'? (If you think I'm wrong - please say).

I've just listened to Act Your Age. I have to say that this series has been a vast improvement on the first.

I was worried about Tom O'Connor at first but he acquitted himself well.

I love listening to "Act Your Age" as it's always good to hear jokes that are older than I am!

Oh and I just love listening to Lucy Porter umming and ahhhing whilst being not particularly funny.

To be fair, there are quite a few people on the show that probably older than you, so their material will be older.

I forgot about Act Your Age. I was having an evening snooze. What a dopey old sod.

He wouldn't let it lie.

He wouldn't let it lie.

I was being bullied by both Woolf and Mark! I had to take a stand! Although ironically my original point was that the show was lite on laughs and didn't really belong in the weekday 6:30 slot...

I'm ready to move on now, though. :)

True, I just hope that in 30 or so years time I'll be able to go on a radio show and get away with doing ancient material that has long since passed into common usage.
