I read a story about some stupid hijackers in the seventies who tried to force the pilot to land on the ocean. He insisted that it was impossible, so they showed him the seatback card about emergency landings and pointed to the sedate little cartoon of people exiting a plane that was serenely floating on a sea of blue water.
