Annoying People - a sketch

Hi team,

Hope you're having a good Friday.

I filmed a sketch called Annoying People about a company who are employed to irritate people (see below)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia6pgXztL9Q&feature=channel_page

I think there is still some more milk in the teet, so to speak, and wrote a kind of sequel.

I've swopped styles in the second version (see below). That is to say, I've gone from a 'faux doc' to a more traditional sketch approach. Does this work?

Also, in the second sketch, is it clear what the company do if you haven't seen the first one (I'd like it to be).

(A restaurant. Charley is on a date with Joanne. It is their first date)
Charley
…so we had the rooms booked. All booked in advance. And we turn up at 10 o'clock as we were supposed to (a waiter comes over with a lit candle and some wine. He starts blatantly listening to the story, laughing at the funny bits). And this woman just clearly isn't expecting us. She looks at us; all 15 of us and you could see the colour drain from her face. Well, being the best man, I naturally took control. We got the 15 rooms and we got them with a 15% discount.

Joanne
It sounds hilarious.

Charley
Oh it was. (To the waiter, who is still just listening) Everything alright?

Waiter
We're out of salmon, I'm afraid.

Charley
But I ordered about 20 minutes ago. (tutting and looking at the menu) Well, I'll have the duck (the waiter places the candle on the table where Charley's drink was) Do you have that? (Charley reaches for his drink, picking up the candle by mistake. He tips hot wax over his face. He screams and the waiter tries to help dabbing his face)

Charley
Ow ow! I'm ok, I'm ok. (Charley takes the cloth and keeps wiping his face, then notices what he's using) This is my jacket!

Waiter
Sorry it was the first thing I found.

Charley
What's wrong with this napkin here?!

Waiter
I didn't think. Can I top up your wine?

Charley
You've got wax all over my jacket, you idiot.

Waiter
Sorry, here have some more wine. (he pours wine into Charley's glass). It's a shame the salmon's all gone. I had some before my shift. It was really delicious. I think I may had the last bit, actually. (the wine glass is over flowing). Chef does such a lovely job with the salmon. It's his speciality-

Charley
The glass! The glass! Stop pouring! (the waiter stops and somehow knocks the glass over, Charley gets knocked off his chair in the commotion) You idiot! Look at me. I've got candle wax over jacket and red wine all over my legs.

Waiter
Well, it's not all over your legs. There's none there (pointing)

Charley
(getting his things together) Come on Joanne. We're getting out of here. (to the waiter) I'll be calling the manager tomorrow to make sure you never do this to anyone else.

Waiter
Oh don't be like that. Let me help you on with you jacket (he rips it)

Charley
Get off me! (he storms out. We see Joanne looking a little alarmed at Charley's behaviour)

(The manager and the head waiter arrive at the table. The Waiter has gone)

Manager
Who was the man serving at this table?

Head Waiter
I've never seen him before. (picking up the waiters apron)He seems to have just disappeared.

(Cut to another part of the restaurant. Jemima Hamilton is sat at a table with Justin, her latest Annoying People customer)

Justin
That was incredible. He was really annoying…

Jemima
All part of the service at 'Annoying People', Mr Pike. Now I'd say give it a couple of days and you should be able to ring Joanne and take her out on a lovely sympathy date (they both start laughing, gradually getting louder, the laughter fades out and they look around and see that everyone is staring at them)

I think you're right. it's an idea with SOME potential, but I think the sketches may all get a bit similar pretty quickly. The vid was good, but the interviewee should lose the jeans....not as part of the sketch.

I think I prefer the second one, but it could be a bit shorter.

The first one seemed a bit too similar in aim to the sketch in Jam which concerns an agency which employs particularly stupid people.

Thanks Krusty/ Ben

Krusty - I think I will leave it after this sketch. If it was in a half hour sketch show, maybe a 3rd sketch might work, but it isn't so it won't.

Ben- Not seen the Jam sketch but hopefully mine's not too similar. I reckon the length is ok. About 2 and a half minutes. I seen so many sketches that go on and on and I'm getting better at drafting and trimming my own stuff. I need a cast of 11 and a restaurant so I won't be filming this for some time though!

Here's the Jam sketch:
