Are you Twittering? Page 5

Oh God this twitter idea is a load of crap. A beacon for all that is wrong with the world.

Well if Twitter is a beacon for everything that is wrong in the world, things are better than I thought ... ;)

You're getting Twitter confused with Heat magazine.

Aaron, where do you stand on Twitter? I've had a go, but it's ultimately rather dull, with the odd gem here or there.

It has grown on me a teeny bit since then, but not to any great or notable extent. Confuses the hell out of me.

I didn't see the point in Twitter - until I realised a lot of the comedians, actors and writers I like are on there all the time posting jokes and generally giving mini updates. To be honest, I've no idea how any of them get any work done!

It's actually also a great tool for finding out tidbits of info. For example, using the search tool tonight it was possible to spot the Tweets of people coming out of tonight's QI recording and thus discover who the guests were.

Anyway, we're on Twitter, so it's not possible for Twitter to be dull ;)

It was indeed interesting. For those wanting to know why, see the BCG QI Series G Episode Guide.

I have to admit that I first thought that that Twitter was a bit of fad, but since I joined it, it has been a very useful tool. For example, apart from other comedians and shows, I also follow news sources that are useful for finding out new comedy shows, such as MediaGuardian, Chortle, Broadcast and the BBC Press Office.

I also learned on Twitter developments going on with certain shows themselves. For example, The Museum of Curiosity announced plans to make their museum go online, allowing visitors to donate their own exhibits.

Idea: The Twitcom. We perform a situation comedy in Tweets. Am I the first to suggest this? If so, remember where you heard it first.

On Twitter at the moment, there is an attempt to make #theBNParetwats the top trending topic. I hope it does.

I must admit that I have now got a Twitter account, but it mostly ties in with my internet biz stuff. http://twitter.com/mikey_jackson

I wasn't really going with it, but 'trends' go round which are useful for your writing. For example, type a joke about the Pope and finish with '#Popefacts' and others will search it and add their own.

I wasn't going to bother with it, but it IS good for marketing a brand.

Brand marketing saps the creativity and joy out of things like twitter, messageboards and blogs and allows souless media types to justify their existence as they spout words like "Going Viral" and "Astro-Turfing". Sends a shiver down my spine.

I Twitter occassionaly. Stephen Fry, Paul Daniels and Jonathan Ross can be very entertaining, too!

For those interested, here is a list of 85 comedians on Twitter, from the UK and abroad.
