How do I set up a website?

Right - first up I'm an Internet Dumbo. Don't get me wrong I know how to use it etc but wonder what is the process of setting up my own site to showcase my wares the way that some of youse guys have done.

I have a blog that I write in every once in a while but it's not the same as a site is it?

So...

How do I get one (say blenk.something or other dot com -org-tv)

Does it cost?

How then do I stick items and links in there etc? There's probably a book or a manual somewhere or there might even be a "how to thingy" on the Interweb itself. But I am a man so manuals...do the math!

Anybody.......?

I have an ebook that explains it all.

Download from: http://www.dotcomallsorts.com/getmyfile.php?file=webhost.zip

Unless you are happy for a free service such as Google Pages or whatever else is around these days, then yes it costs. And how you do it depends on what you get. Some places provide a system to help you build pages, some don't. Depends on what you're prepared to learn, how much time you have, how much you're willing to pay, etc.

Cheers men.

Just as I suspected, more complicated than I had hoped it might be but I'll have a gander at Mikey's book at some point.

Thanks ever so.

Try www.webs.com it's very simple step-by-step. Although because it's free, you might run out of bandwidth if you want to host videos.

But try it anyway as a practice and you'll have a site up in minutes. :)

Ah, but you'll find my little book explains it all in layman's terms. :)

It's not as difficult as you thnk.

I use Go Daddy. You can get your domain for about $10 a year and hosting for about $4 a month. Their tech support guys are very good too.

I'm now on the web yahoo! I mean Yehaw! (Copyright and all that)

I will build it up and then....

Mwuahahahahaha!

Try Mr Site - Its about £35 quid or so butthat's for a whole year.
You get a .co.uk or .com + email. And it really is dead easy.

www.mrsite.co.uk

Buying a kit is probably the best way to go if you are not tech savvy. Most come with a guide and last a year before you have to renew a subscription.
