Worst 10 British sitcoms ever Page 5

You're getting confused with Harry H. Corbett. I'm referring to Ronnie Corbett.

Nope, I'm referring to two sitcoms based on a middle-aged man who wants to free himself of a suffocating parent but can't because the parent is so manipulative.

One has pride, spirit and integrity whose guilt is his undoing. The other is a spineless, infant like, dullard, whose lack of a spine and infant like dullardy is his undoing.

Anyone who calls his father a "Dirty old man" is hardly a 'spineless, infant-like, dullard'!

No Morrace... see what you've done there, is mix them up.

In fact you've got them completely wrong. It's actually the other way about. It's that Harold Steptoe (who you quite rightly stated, used to call his dad a "dirty old man") is the one who has pride, spirit and integrity who's guilt is his undoing.

And in fact Ronnie Corbett's Sorry! character (if you'll excuse the pun (even if it is an apt description)) that is a spineless, infant like, dullard, whose lack of a spine and infant like dullardy is his undoing.

But don't worry about it. It's fine. A lot of people probably got confused and it's good that you spoke up so I could clarify the issue.

Sorry, Stu - it's just that I'm not as old as I used to be!!

Night, night!

It's cool. Don't be silly. Don't apologise. Goodnight.x

Why has no-one mentioned the one about Hitler living next door? Surely Grownups isn't that bad.

And regarding the Frank Spencer argument. He's clumsy, innocent and trying to provide the best for his wife and child. Likeable.

Yes? And? What I said still holds water. He is a bit spineless and annoying. Or at least could be.

Heil Honey I'm Home!?

Viewed for what it is, it isn't actually that bad. Monumentally poor taste, but that's sort of the point.

I've never watched Heil Honey, but seen a slight snippet of it on YouTube. It's remarkable really that a sitcom that only made one episode on an extremely unknown satalite channel is so widely spoken about.

It certainly isn't that good.

Ah Hyperdrive, there's a show I really wanted to like. Great cast, great premise, a few funny gags but it just didn't work.

Thanks for mentioning Sorry!, now I've got that bloody theme tune going through my brain on constant repeat.

I enjoyed a few episodes. I don't think it should be in the top ten, there are others far worse.

Babes in the Wood, anyone?

Throw Hyperdrive and Supernova in there. People claim those shows grow on you but so do fungal infections and I don't want either.

Mind, the best thing in defence of Supernova is that it created a wave of nostalgia for the one truly great space sitcom.

Mork and Mindy?
