You really must get onto 30 Rock ASAP. It is sublime.

In no particular order:
Office: An American Workplace
Seinfeld
Larry Sanders Show
Bilko
Frasier
Cheers
Archie Bunker
Bender's Truth (USA)
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Taxi
Police Squad, Get Smart! Damn it, how couild I forget those?!
And thought MASH was also a bit heavy on the drama to count as a true sitcom, maybe comedy drama.
Only yank sitcoms that I really liked are:
1. Seinfeld
2. Curb Your Enthusiasm
3. Bilko
4. I Love Lucy
5. Married with Children (Steve era)
I haven't seen much at all of the American Office, and don't wish to either. I just suspect that it'd be crap. Just like I wouldn't be able to stand a British version of Seinfeld. It'd probably star someone like David Baddiel, John Thompson, Doon Mackinon and Chris Langham (if he wasn't busy looking at 5-year-old kids on the Internet) and be total shite.

That's sort of odd though. Because it isn't crap, it really, really isn't. In fact it seems to be being seen as something of a classic in its own right. Why deny yourself good comedy just because you like the original?

My point being: If it ain't broke don't try and fix it. I really liked The Office UK so just wasn't interested in seeing it again, in American form. Just like I wouldn't be interested in seeing if we were any good at doing Seinfeld. I did 'try' and watch an episode through curiosity and turned it off before a fair bit before the end: It just seems like they kept the same name and characters and everything else went out the window.
Well you're missing out. Really. But you obviously won't be told so I'll stop trying to tell.
I'll happily carry on watching what is a classic sitcom in its own right, regardless of where it came from.

No-one's trying to "fix" anything, Jackson; it's a completely different sort of show to the UK version. At least as soon as it hits its stride it is. I suspect you might have tuned into one from the first season, which I'd recommend skipping. Beyond that, quite honestly, it's one of the best comedies of this millennium.
TAXI! Where I first discovered the genius Andy Kaufmann. Sheeee-it!
I love Taxi's theme tune. It has the same effect as the Cheers one.
Yeah, but good tunes. Hill Street Blues was good too.
Reba would have to be one of my all-time favourite US sitcoms.
1. King of the Hill
2. Curb Your Enthusiasm
3. Cheers
4. Frasier
5. Seinfeld
6. Futurama
7. Family Guy
8. Simpsons
9. Freaks and Geeks (Is this a sitcom or a drama?)
10. Malcolm in the Middle
Did everyone say Cheers cuz it took place in a pub?
