This is becoming a TTPYO !

Can someone please explain to me the problem with Blackadder S1?

Angry

Cmon fella! It's piss poor

Even the writers say it wasn't good enough

Although the scenes with Miriam margo-thingy and Jim Broadbent are quite funny

IMHO not so much piss poor as different. Different writers, different type of Blackadder personality. The character in 2/3/4 was virtually interchangeable.

Different title even !

Just a view but I think people are wrong to dismiss it out of hand.

I'm on your side with this. I like it...but it is a completely different beast.

Wave

I Thought Blackadder the first was my favourite

1. The Office
2. Extras
3. Bottom
4. Father Ted
5. Spaced
6. Alan Partridge
7. Blackadder
8. The Young Ones
9. Fawlty Towers
10. Derek

Probably:
1) OFAH
2) Fawlty Towers
3) Mrs. Brown's Boys
4) Citizen Khan
5) The Royle Family
6) Max And Paddy
7) Phoenix Nights
8) Extras
9) LOTSW
10) Gavin & Stacey

But there are loads so it's difficult to do a top 10.

What sort of metric is 'top'? I suppose most people would presume that to mean the 'best'.

With respect to G180e (who I picked at random), no one can say they are using a measurable standard of quality when they include Phoenix Nights with Mrs. Brown's Boys and Gavin and Stacey. They are simply stating which shows they're fondest of - which makes the whole thread a bit pointless.

Can someone make a Top 20 thread please.:)

There is one. https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/12257/

Remember to use the search box.

This is my list

1. Open All Hours
2. Porridge
3. Man About the House
4. George and Mildred
5. Bless This House.
6. Goodnight Sweetheart
7. On The Buses
8. Terry and June
9. The Royle Family
10. Steptoe and Son

MY TOP TEN SITCOMES OF ALL TIME ARE
of no interest to anyone.

Here's mine:

1) Blackadder
2) Fawlty Towers
3) OFAH
4) The Office
5) Peep Show
6) I'm Alan Partridge
7) Father Ted
8) Porridge
9) The Inbetweeners
10) One Foot In The Grave

Peep show
Bottom
Green Wing
Bluestone 42
The Thick of it
Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads
Partridge
The Detectorists
Blackadder
Fawlty Towers

shame no room for: Game on, The Young Ones

In order of watching them and ones I watched regularly when they were originally aired. I don't know many other people my age who were allowed to watch The Young Ones with their dad when they were 5. I wanted to include others like OFAH, Father Ted and Inbetweeners but while I enjoy them now I didn't watch them when they were first shown on TV apart from some of the OFAH Christmas specials. Comic Strip Presents were like a self contained sitcom in each episode but I couldn't include that either. Best boxset I've ever bought though.

The Young Ones
Filthy Rich & CatFlap
Hi-Di-Hi
Bread
Brush Strokes
Fawlty Towers
Blackadders
Red Dwarfs 1,2 & 3
Bottoms
I'm Alan Partridge

I actually like the first Blackadder - it's more comedy than sitcom. I couldn't stand all those contrived S2on one-liners that got quoted to death.
Rewatching I'm Alan Partridge. It is, in the words of Charles Dickens, totally f**king awesome. The Jed episode is the most fun you can have without the use of Mel C and a shower attachment.
