Carry On Films

I've managed to collect and watch all of the Carry On films - I would be interested to know which ones people like best.

I've also enjoyed seeing Sidney James in the first two series of Bless This House and in Hancock's Half Hour.

I think that John Inman would have fitted very well into the Carry On films, but I suppose so would a few people.

Thats such a tuffie question hun. Its too hard to pick a favourite. If i had a gun to my head and it was choose or die, I would have to pick the first one that came into my head. Possibly in that situation and the probable need of medical atention it would have to be Carry On Doctor.(atleast i think it's called that).

I love the Carry Ons, and as they were filmed near here, it's quite fun to spot-the-location (yes, I am that sad). And Bless This House is quite possibly my favourite sitcom. Sid James is just brilliant, IMO, but anyway.
Really couldn't pick a favourite, I don't think. All have great moments and lines. Jessie would definitely go for Screaming!, but for me it's not a proper Carry On without Sid.
Hmmmm, yeah... A very hard choice indeed. The obvious answer would be Camping, but maybe I've seen it one too many times now. Khyber? Jack? Convenience has some great moments too. Dick? Loving? Don't Lose Your Head? So many choices!

Not Carry On Again Doctor? Or Carry On Matron? ;)

Very tough question for someone who loves Carry On Films. I have the Carry on collection that someone put together, has 4 films on each DVD and I watched them all last year.

I love them all apart from a few. My favourite is probable Carry On Camping, although it's tough. .. At your Convenience is very, very good too. Carry on Cabby is probably my favourite of the B&W ones.

Carry on Cleo. Maybe carry on camping.

Oh, come on! It's Up the Khyber! How could it not be? Devils in skirts, "who's that gentleman on the throne?", "and up yours", the end banquet scene. Wonderful stuff.

My runners up would be Cleo ("Infamy!"), Screaming ("Frying tonight!") and Doctor (Frankie Howerd given days to live).

Time for tiffin!

I agree that really the medical ones are best although they all stand up on their own .... - apart from Columbus. Tried to be too much to too many - trad Carry On and Right On - and failed miserably.

I don't think really you could do one now without the likes of Williams, Hawtry, James, Jaques and Windsor.

Of their time and still funny.

My fav is Carry on Camping (the only one I didn't find at all funny was Carry on Nurse - the rest all had funny moments and I found them to be feel-good enjoyable).
My father-in-laws fav is Carry on up the Jungle.
My wife's fav is Carry on Behind. Ian Lavender (Dad's Army) had a minor role in that one - he was living in Gt Dunmow (Essex - near Stansted Airport) when I left in 1989. My wife and I are gradually getting Dad's Army on DVD (when cheap). I wouldn't mind getting hold of "The Glums" with Ian Lavender and Patricia Brake (Ingrid in Porridge/Going Straight). Ingrid: "Look dad I'm wearing a bra" was a classic moment.

Carry on Abroad is one that stands out - ooh matron. And for no real reason that I can justify, Carry on Columbus. Perhaps it was because it was full of 'alternative' comedians who always gave the impression they were better than that kind of comedy and proving that they weren't. If anything, I think they were far worse. Hold on, I think I've just found my reason.

You know, I've never thought of it that way before. But you're exactly right. They all jumped at the chance to be in a Carry On!

Really they've all got classic moments. It's difficult to remember all the different bits and pieces - where they came from - but a great series of films.

Carry on abroad is my favourite.

Barbara Windsor : Have You got a large one.

Sid James : I've had no complaints.

LOL.

I never like the historical one as much as the ones set in the then present day, if I had to pick probably camping (loved going camping as a kid).

Also never really like Jim Dale

Well she should know. ;)

Anyway. How's this for spooky? ominous?; Sid James's daughter is (apparently) now a children's TV producer.
