Unsuccessful Spinoffs Page 2

I loved the Marion And Geoff spin off with Steve Coogan - can't remember it's name. I also am a big fan of In Sickness And Health, the Till Death Do Us Part spinoff - which I think is a lot better than the original. The Green Green Grass is an obvious example of a bad spin-off though I guess in terms of popularity it has been quite successful.

Bucking the thread for a moment, I think Man About The House did quite well in spawning both Robin's Nest and George & Mildred.

Harder to remember the less successful spin-offs.

I'm pretty sure it'll be out whenever they get around to finishing off releasing Are You Being Served?.

So in the next few decades then? I think they are still only up to series seven and are still to release eight, nine and ten - and hopefully that big collectors box set!

Back to the subject of unsuccessful spin offs. How about The Legacy of Reginald Perrin and the kind of 'inspired by' series Fairly Secret Army?

Def.

Fairly Secret Army is great! (And ran to 3 series' IIRC, so can't have been all that unsuccessful at the time.)

It was a one off, just showing you how Keiths wife left him for Geoff. Called 'A Summer Party', or something similar.

Was that one not what Marion And Geoff was developed FROM?

No; it started off as was, with Brydon just talking to camera in his car, the special grew out of that.

Ah yes, A Small Summer Party was between series 1 & 2.
