...I missed this very obvious introductions bit and went straight into a thread. How rude.
I was just excited when I found the thread on the Sitcom Trials while 'surfing' the other day.
Anyhoo, I've always loved good comedy and to be able to write my own and ideally have people (who don't know me) saying they like it too would be great.
But I enjoy it as a process anyway (except when I don't, but anyone who writes will probably agree!)
One of my favourite writers is David Renwick - Love Soup is along the lines of the work I'd love to create. Something played fairly straight - more a drama with comedy rather than playing everything for laughs, which I find more rewarding. That's the kind of script I attempted for the trials - something that evolved from drama to comedy.
But I'd also like to write a more traditional sitcom (sorry if I'm using all the wrong terms - I'm not very technical, despite reading books on comedy too).
So I'm currently attempting that with a writing partner which in itself is a new experience and one I'm finding fun and productive (but then we haven't had an argument yet ;-) )
Would also love to write something by committee sometime like the americans often do - just think it would be fun - but in person rather than online which I think is hard to put into practice.
Oh did I mention I waffle a lot? I'll get me coat...
