Spelling on home-made signs

On the One Show last night was an item about the possible closure of many libraries. Some footage was shown of a protest march in which I spotted a placard bearing the following;

SAVE OUR LIBRARYS

What spelling mistakes on home-made signs have amused you?

Not technically a spelling mistake but I once passed a church where someone had stolen the letters N and U from the "Annual" in a "Church Annual Picnic" sign.

Yesterday I went past a stall that said "Scarfs" and another that said "Febuary."

There are enough typos on here to worry about signs. ;)

I was once perusing a salubrious Middlesbrough second hand car dealership called Bangers And Mash, and in the corner of the lot was a mini metro with two very descriptive words painted in whitewash on the windscreen. "Engine F**ked"

Someone once folded an "Out of Order, Sorry" sign stuck to my local pub's hand dryer so it read "Out of Sorry". That made me laugh.

In a pub: "Refurbishment - please bare with us." I said to the barmaid, "I'm game if you are", and she looked at me like I'd announced the death of her children.

There was an incident in Wales that made the news where vigilantes were hounding a man they thought was a paedophile. On the wall of the house was sprayed: Prevert (which was crossed out) and finally the mob settled on spraying Child Molestar.

The thing that irritates me most in signs is the misused apostrophe.

Councils don't bother with apostrophes in road name signs now, in order to ensure consistency. In my opinion why not try to get it consistently RIGHT?

Agreed. Fortunately the area I live in is quite posh so even the greengrocer manages not to put possessive apostrophes everywhere.
