Any guitarists out there?

I'm presuming so from the responses to the four chords YouTube clip. If so, have you any opinions on the Epiphone SG400? I'm looking for a half decent back-up guitar to my USA Strat (nothing too expensive - around the £200 mark or so) and I'm tempted by one of these, though I've never actually played one. Will have to hunt one down in a local store but thought I'd seek opinions on here?

Currently have a Variax 300 (which is on E-Bay as we speak) but am not too keen on that - I just want a simple, straight ahead guitar which could deputise suitably if the Strat went tits-up mid gig.

I'm a bit out of the loop these day Mick but looking at it I'd say that it may well feel quite different and also play different to your strat.

I may be talking bollocks but I would suspect that the Epiphone will have a flat fingerboard and not rounded like the strat does. This may or may not be important to you.

Back in the day when I was playing Epiphone had a decent reputaion as a fair Gibson copyist.

My advice with any guitar though is don't buy one unseen. Go and play it and see if "it's you".

Cheers Blenkinsop. Will certainly try one before buying. I'm unsure if I want something radically different or not - I also quite fancy one of the US Highway 1 Teles, but they're a little bit out of my price range (even eBay prices).

Only if that flute can play Stairway to Heaven.
If it can, you and I will have to start a band.
