I don't know if anyone else involved in NGO reads these boards, but I personally take a lot of notice of them. And my ghostly presence here certainly doesn't seem to affect anyone's opinion, which is as it should be.

I doesn't affect my opinion, but I generally think its a good comedy. I can't honestly remember watching many sitcoms on BBC1 in recent years that I've actually liked, so NGO is doing something right. Its good to have feedback from someone involved because it clarifies many of the points raised on this board, even if everyone doesn't agree with them.

Agree that Baby was the best of the series so far. That could have been potentially awful but it came off really well.

Totally agree. I went to the read through of Baby and Lapdancing, and thought Baby was the better script but wondered how the hell they would manage to film it (memories of Blessed are still haunting my nights, I'm afraid). They did a great job of using a real baby with real reactions. It could have been so naff but it really worked. Where did it all go right?

I also agree that the last episode was not as good. It's still decent Friday night fare but whoever said the sparkle comes from Lee and Tim was right. Their scenes are great but there aren't enough of them.

By the way, I'm looking forward to the 5th volume of Andrew's memoirs: The British Sitcom Forum Days.

Hey all, just wanted to pop in and say that I'm really loving the 2nd series of NGO. The Baby ep was fantastic! The first series was hit and miss for me, and although I like Megan Dodd's work, I thought that her character was hard to pin down. I like the Lucy character better, but not so much Guy's. (although he seems to be a really good actor and has nice comic timing) Still funny stuff, though.

Does anyone know if they baby in ep4 was a child of someone in the cast/crew? They really let Lee run around with him, so I figured it must've been someone who trusted him. (and signed off on the insurance forms!) I think that was what made the ep for me, because the baby was a real kid and not a "bundle" most of the time. It was fun to just watch the kid's eyes look around the set!

i wasn't sure about this, i thought it was just half an hour of crude jokes...then i watched my family and realised that half an hour of jokes is no bad thing! it's certainly the best comedy they put on at a proper hour on bbc 1 or 2.

Absolutely, David. We did it with the first series too. It's a fantastic way of gauging the jokes and really suits our way of working, which is to constantly hone the comedy. Lee's very keen on this method and I agree: you can't beat an actual audience of comedy fans for finding out in something you wrote in an office is actually any good!
