Did she say where she'd seen or heard of the artist? Is it a local, or an exhibition she's been to?

Not that one, nor zooo's; she could be local, we're in Sussex.
Ooooh!
That MUST be it.
I assume you must be right, although that's not the website she showed me. I'm going to have to get confirmation, aren't I?
Thanks for the detective work AJGO, you're a star
I can confirm that you were right AJGO, many thanks!

It was original artwork of harbour scenes, done in a vaguely naive manner, lot's of jolly boats and pretty houses with no regard for realistic perspective, by an artist possibly called Kathy Mc...something, but since googling it brings up no results, I might even have got that bit wrong.
Is it on this lot?

No worries, Happy Christmas to you and your girlfriend!
My PC is connected to my hi fi and via HDMI to a TV. I unplugged and plugged in the HDMI cable, and now I don't get audio any more. The control panel tells me the NVDIA HDMI output is working. I checked with headphones straight into the pc, and played an MP3; still no sound, but when I unplugged the HDMI cable again, I could hear the relevant windows noise. So the system noises seem to be working. I've checked 'mute' buttons, but I'm pretty sure I must have missed something very obvious here; what might it be?
I can barely get my head around that.
How is your PC connected to your hi fi?
Is the sound NOT coming through the HDMI?
There's no sound from the PC?
But the Windows SFX work?
Have you tried adjusting the relevant audio channels? For example, and forgive me I don't really use Windows anymore, but you can adjust the system volume, the mic volume, the headphone volume individually (i believe).

In the control Panel there should be one called Sound or similar which allows you to choose the output device.
Or try right-click on the speaker icon in your bottom right corner.
I tried that bill.
Leevil, I've tried adjusting everything I can (the danger there being that I might create another problem about which I'll be unaware); it's a proper Heath Robinson style set up, but suffice to say, I have connected the audio from the back of the PC into an amp, and from there into the speakers. The amp and speakers work fine on ordinary TV, but that all comes from the Virgin box. Actually, I notice that the HDMI cable must be working, because I can listen to the PC on the TV's own (rubbishy) speakers... argh! Why would the sound not come out of the audio jack, nor the headphone socket?
Hmm, I've now got around it by plugging the hi fi into the headphone socket on the TV, but it doesn't sound very good. However, it does show that the hi-fi itself is working.
Are you sure you haven't accidentally selected a bypass feature on your hifi? I've had one before that was easily pressed and redirected the sound through another channel somewhere. It was quite annoying because it wasn't always immediately obvious when it was selected.
Have you checked the volume settings on your PC? Windows Media player for example has separate volume controls, so your normal PC noises will be audible, yet you might not be able to hear music.
It may also be that the HDMI cable connection has been damaged on the hi-fi.
Can't think of anything else.
Oh, have you tried turning it all off and on again?!?
