Russell T. Davies Attacks

Did anybody read Russell T. Davies attacking "Primeval" for being "shamefully" white. Now I admire Davies an awful lot, but attacking a show for being too white is ludicrous. The last thing we want are comedies and dramas having to fulfill quotas, with a set number of blacks, gays and Chinese featured. If you go down that road you're going to end up with tediously PC shows that are more interested in ticking boxes that anything else. Shows like Torchwood, in fact, a show so obsessed with reflecting the multi-cultarl pan-sexual nature of Britain, that it forgot to actually be any good.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Russell T. Davies is a knob.

Hes not a knob, hes a fantastic writer, and unless he personally called your mum a slag, I think calling him a knob is a bit much!!! Doctor who is currently one of the best shows on TV, and its all thanks to him, in poorer hands than his it could well have been a disaster. So there!!!

I've never seen a white Dalek.

I've never seen a white Dalek.

Then check out some stories from the original series. (YES IM SAD) Certainly in some of the McCoy stories there were white Daleks. I think they were supposed to be imperial daleks. Think they had gold bumps and bits on them. Im going to go away now before I incriminate myself any further . . .

True. But I think it could have been much better too. Anyway, that's beside the point. From comments such as reported above, and interviews I've seen, I stand by my original opinion. He's a knob.

Michael Jackson said it don't matter if you're black or white but he also said it was OK to sleep with children. I've got alot of respect for Mr Davies and think he has a point. Having no black actors on a commercial show is shameless, i can see the conversasion now

'shouldn't we have a black character?'

'No, we may lose the racist demographic'

But I did like Primeval, ITV should be doing more of that and less Ben Elton, wtf is that all about, hasn't he got enough money?

I loved Torchwood. I didn't even notice any multi culturalness until you just mentioned it.

I do love RTD (loved Queer as Folk) but the Doctor Whos he writes aren't usually as good as the other episodes. A bit too soapy.

Ah, yes, but does multi culturalness exist out there in deep space? Or, as Spock himself once opined, "It's black Jim, but not as we know it".

If he hadn't mentioned it I don't think many people would have realised. Primeval was good - maybe not greatly original but still the best thing on TV at that time of the evening. Maybe he was worried that it was better than his and threw in the race card. What a cheap trick.
