A Short Sketch

BARACK OBAMA IS IN THE WHITE HOUSE WITH CHIEF JUSTICE JOHN ROBERTS.

OBAMA
...and will to the best of my ability...

ROBERTS
...preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

OBAMA
...preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

ROBERTS
So help you God?

OBAMA
So help me God.

ROBERTS
Congratulations, Mr President.

OBAMA
Thank you, sir.

THE PEOPLE PRESIDENT APPLAUD. OBAMA LEAVES THE ROOM AND WALKS TO THE OVAL OFFICE. HIS WIFE IS IN THE CORRIDOR.

OBAMA
Michelle, I gotta work.

HE KISSES HER AND WALKS THROUGH THE DOOR INTO THE OVAL OFFICE, ALMOST HERO-LIKE. HE SITS DOWN BEHIND HIS DESK. HE SMILES. PAUSE.

OBAMA (to himself)
OK so... now what do I do?

END

Hi and welcome to the wonderful world of critique.

I'm afraid I'm not that positive about this. There is only the one gag, which I don't feel is that strong.

All the above could be done with.
BO Walks in into the oval office, slowly looks around.
BO: Shit what the f**k do I do now?

I find swearing is great by the way.

Less is sometimes more.

But hey ho what do I know? Welcome look forward to seeing further stuff.

Nicely structured but that's a weak and obvious punchline.

Very subtle. Very clever. This writer does not follow the crowd with a 'wacky' clever punchline. Just a simple "OK so... now what do I do?". A superior piece of comedy writing in my opinion.
