it's this scene. Years ago I was experimenting with pastiche, e.g. what would happen if the cast from one show performed scenes from another one. Hopefully with enough similarity to make them work.
Didn't really work, but I liked the idea so might dig it up again.
OK - nice idea although to my mind the original is a total load of bollocks. What really is the enjoyment or entertainment in such a load of crap?
FMJ maybe one of the best movies of all time in my opinion, the scene doesn't really work in issolation.
Part of my doubts was I felt guilty about mocking such a great film.
It is too much of a jump to have Pike and Jones using that kind of language. They are too well loved as they were.
That's why it doesn't work.
There's something there. Because the power relationship is what's similar.
How about if they stuck with the 1940s lingo?
The mental breakdown of Pike and the departure from his normal soppiness was what made the sketch for me. Mind you, them all talking in 1940s lingo could be amusing.
