Tattoos Page 12

:) If it is a small ladybird who cares so much? Go with it! Rolling eyes

Where has anyone stated (other in obvious jest) that they would treat someone who chose to have a tattoo differently than someone without?

Whether or not you think statements like "if I see somebody with masses of tattoos I tend to assume they're thick. " are in obvious jest, there is certainly a lot of prejudice against tattoos in society. I know someone who was refused a job as a community police officer because of tattoos on the lower arm; and yet people with criminal records were being accepted.

I'm not the one bothered about it lasting forever.

Not now, but you might well be bothered later. I know lots of people with tats, and it's usually the first ones they get which they regret. Best to do what Ellie did, live with it for a while by your bedside and then get it if you still want it; or get something else.

I imagine they're rather fun for morticians to look at. That's why I got my 'that which does not kill me only makes me stronger' one anyway.

As dellas has said, it's a small ladybird. And I don't think she's having it tattooed between her eyes, so it's not going to effect her life in any way. She may regret it, but she's just as likely not to regret it either.

I bet you all voted NO for AV too. :P

We had a plague of ladybirds here last year.

The horror, the horror....

I tell you it was very spooky! They weren't our lovely english ladybirds they were immigrants!

Is it ladybirds that leave that funny smelling yellow smear on your flesh? It's been a while since I've had one land on me.

Sorry two years ago! http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/nature/swarms-of-ladybirds-plague-norfolk-coast-1769202.html

Fair point. I don't think all tattoos are tacky, just the ones I see on Jeremy Kyle or big racists and Essex girls. Maoris tattoos aren't tacky, for example.

But I think the "prejudice" argument isn't clear cut because people who have tattoos do it to themselves. It would be like me painting my face blue and glueing a horn to my forehead and then complaining people treat me differently to non-horned non-blue faced people.

Isn't that the very core of prejudice. People will make sweeping value judgements based on a surface appearance. As a society we have much to learn. In truth, if I saw a horned blue face in a crowded room, I'm be more inclined to want to speak to them, maybethat's positive prejudice.

It's Chip we're talking about Bob, are you really sure of that? And is your nickname your real name or an ambition you have?

Fair point. I'm on a health kick so no chips for me anyway. Bluehorned or not.

The nickname. Hmm, a long, convoluted tale of woe, whoa! & wo. My ambition is to eventually Bury Bob, as he confuses, frustrates & generally causes me no end of mischief. But he cooks a great steak.

Not my real name, yet....

Eep. Hadn't read this thread for ages. Hope Scats's tattoo goes well!
(If she ever reads this thread again, which I doubt she will) and also that she comes back in a while, when the board has stopped being so weirdly weird and has gone back to its normal type of weird.

New tattoo is healed and I am laughing at everyone getting so angry here about the last one. Just to screw you guys over, this next one is BIGGER.
