I'm sure many of us on here have enjoyed John Mortimer's work over the years, particularly the Rumpole TV and radio series, and his superb novels and short stories. He was a very great comic writer.

I was lucky enough to go and see him doing a show at the King's Head theatre a year or two ago where he read extracts from his own work and other peoples, and generally chatted about his life. A marvellous man.

RIP John Mortimer.

I agree with all that. JM's Rumpole books are superb as was the TV series. sadly missed.

He and Peter Ustinov could bore for Britain. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Ustinov was funny. :P

Oh no, I regret that he's died, of course, but you have to be honest.

A great shame. Rumpole is one of the great British characters and Mortimer's Brideshead Revisited adaptation was superb.

Yep, a shame. Mortimer was more than a good writer.

You Bad Dog, you. Ustinov boring? He'd be at my dinner table any night. It'd take the other guests' minds of my food.
;)

RIP. Ustinov boring? tsk tsk.

Sad news. Great character in Rumpole, loved the series.
