Patrick McGoohan RIP

Have been told today that the wonderfully wooden but brilliant Patrick McGoohan died yesterday. He'll be sadly missed. He contributed no small part to my myopic and vaguely paranoid world-view. I think of him as a modern prophet and visionary with an art for moral and social commentary that peaked in metaphor of the 1960s series, The Prisoner. Possibly my favourite TV series ever.

Insightful doomsayer or blinded pessimist... take your pick. But for me, it's a no-brainer. :)

Wave Patrick, and thanks.

RIP

:(

Nor have I. Surprisingly.

Well, you're missing out.

Be Seeing You, Number Six.

R.I.P.

Come on in Number Six, your time is up... :(

I've only seen him in Braveheart. Great performance though.
Great actor.

I just ordered The Prisoner to watch. Disc 1 shall come Friday.

Liked The Prisoner and also some of his film appearances such as Hell Drivers and Scanners.

I love The Prisoner. At least he died before the remake hits our screens!

He was also the best bit in Braveheart, when he chucked that geezer out the window.

He was a fantastic actor and he made the Prisoner what it was, which was ace.

A unique, legendary actor. His performances in Danger Man and The Prisoner are so different to the standard hero-type performances in shows of that kind. He would always go his own way. The villains could beat him up but they could never break him. Mentally, he was the toughtest customer in town. The other day I recorded The Man in the Iron Mask purely to see him in it. I will watch it tonight in tribute.

He should have been Prime Minister, imagine Bush trying to persuade him to invade Iraq?

He'd have killed Osama by staring at a photo of him.

I believe there was talk of him being considered for the role of James Bond at one point. That would have been interesting!
