Silly/Stupid reasons to dislike people Page 4

I like that you assume it's character when he's always like that.

When I see someone smoking. Especially a woman. I immediately think less of them as a person. If I know they smoke but don't actually see them doing it I don't. And my father smokes which sort of makes things difficult in my head. Sorry to all those smokers out there. I'm just odd. Errr

Also. They are a sub-life form.

I still think less of them!

Takes one to know one. :P

I feel bad for saying this. I don't think less of a person or dislike them but I feel a huge wave of disapointment if someone I know talks about doing drugs or starts smoking pot. I can't help it because I have lost a special friend to drugs and seen the affect it's had on others and I find it so hard to hide my disapointment. I don't have a go but I usually have to leave because it makes me sad and upset. I respect the right to choose but I just don't understand why anyone would choose to hand money over to these total crooks which usually finds it's way back into funding other more serious crime and put themselves in danger. And it really does upset me when they say, "It's fine it's only pot" or "Oh come on, I'm not an addict, it's just this once...." because I've heard it before, the last person ending up in a unit and the person before in a coffin.

:)

*saves breathe*

One thing though. If it was legal and you could buy it, say in a pharmacy, then the money could go to the government. I'm not for giving money to criminals either. I don't see how I can die from smoking pot, apart from cancer, which I could get even if I didn't smoke, but hey, I respect your opinion and am sad for your friends.

I kinda agree with Ruby, I've seen marijuana do a lot of harm.

I've seen it either push people into psycosis, substitute for much better prescription meds and contribute to a paralysing fugue that stops people doing anything with their lives.

I'd be a hypocrite to say I never tried it.

And enjoyed it, but it's something I grew out of.

Like most drugs, decriminalise it, tax it and put it under the state's purvue.

It's not really the substance that's the problem it's the bullshit that surrounds it.

Fair point.

Indeed.

I mean the culture that surrounds alcohol is what prevents it being as damaging as it could be.

Alcohol is potentially far more dangerous, but a culture of moderation, social rules, health advice, tax and pubs creates a "safety net of normalacy."

Granted it doesn't always work.

But alcoholism is an exception rather than a rule.

With pot, it's not about dying, it's the mental damage. And if it was legal, it would probably be more monitored. There isn't a govering body for Dodgy Steve down the pub! For all you know, what you have bought is actaully soap bar and God knows what's in it. Tobacco would be a small worry compaired (not that tobacco is a small worry at all).

I am accepting that it does help some illnesses. No denying that. In those cases, it would be great if the goverment legalised it for prescriptions and made sure it was safe for those people but I am really sorry but I think if it's just to get high, it's not on.

It's doesn't mean however that I'm going to turn to that friend and say "You are not my friend anymore....". There are others things I don't agree with and others might not agree with stuff I do. For example, Aaron is pro fox hunting and I'm strongly against it. Doesn't mean I am gonna tell him to get lost (I tell him to get lost for other reasons anyway Smarmy). Everyone is different.

What bullshit is that?

The illegality of it forces you to meet criminals, allows those criminals to put whatever they want into it and enforces some habits that would not be a problem if you didn't have to hide away.

I think anyway.

I get really, really annoyed with people who don't look you in the eye when they talk to you.

Also men who feel the need to squeeze as hard as possible when shaking hands. Yeah okay mate I get it, you're big and strong.

Women who think its amusing to hit you in the balls.

Women who scream at their crying kids in supermarkets. In Middlesbrough they screech "Gerreer!" (get here). Even worse, women (or men) who hit their kids in public places.

Rough women who take their young children into amusement arcades and sit there for hours feeding pound coins into fruit machines while the poor child sits there bored and grizzling in its pushchair.

People who buy into media scare stories. Know anyone who died from Salmonella? Know anyone who died from bird flu? Know anyone who died from Y2K? Know anyone who died from CJD? Know anyone who died from Irish pork? Know anyone who died from GM foods? No? Shut up then.

Adults who pick their noses and actually eat it. How old are you, 7? Do you have any idea how beyond disgusting that is?

Couples who argue in front of you as if you're not there.

GPs in general. Mostly clueless.

Oh dear the list could go on and on and on...

I thought this thread was supposed to be "silly/stupid reasons to dislike people", not "perfectly rational reasons to dislike people". That shaking hands one is a real pain in the arse. (Cue gag about me doing it wrong)

Yes but aside from the Brown Bottle, the Drunk Bakers and Iron Man how many cartoon characters sucumb to alcoholism?

Spider man, Dennis the Menace, Dan Dare even the Incredible Hulk are social or non drinkers.

What bullshit is that?

Ooh where do I start? Unemployed never work types who smoke it all day, the waste of police and prison resources, dangerous driving, it's proven associations with mental health issues, the variant strengths that you can't tell when you buy it, the incredibly boring culture of "ironic" dope tshirts, people who think it makes them revoloutinaries, the sheer banality of it all.

Dope should be legal and controlled.
