What do you do to beat winter blues?

I went ice fishing with my brother yesterday.

Here is a group of my neighbors.

Here is the shanti house my brother built in my garage. We caught lots of fish and he cleaned them and put many in my freezer. He will go again today and catch many for me to have.

Your life is way cooler than my own. This saddens me.

I beat the winter blues by eating too much and sobbing quietly.

Is there no outdoor fun in England in winter?

The government would never allow FUN in England, it's just not done.

I'd just like to say I enjoy your posts Dr Mato, they are most colourful and provide cheer for us all. :D

I beat summer blues by remembering that each second brings me closer to winter.

I am totally in reverse. I get summer blues!

Thank you

I think it's the huge build-up to Christmas and the new year that makes everyone depressed - suddenly it's all over so there's a feeling that there isn't anything to look forward to for a few months. Plus the fact that most people have spent all their money.

The weather isn't such a downer, I would have thought most people in Britain would be used to bad weather. The last couple of days have been refreshingly sunny, crisp, precipitation free and non-windy. Quite pleasant for a walk.

Laughing out loud nice.

I haven't gone ice fishing in a few years although it is pretty fun.
I went snow machining while visiting Sudbury this Christmas. I ski, cross country ski, skate the Rideau canal (the longest skating rink in the world), we're going sliding on tubes next Saturday but mostly...I just complain about how damn cold it is.
OHHH yea! My favorite part of winter is maple syrup + snow. Deeeeeeelicious.
On a side note a met a man from Poland the other day. He had been in Ottawa for two days now and besides asking me for directions he asked with a worried face "is the weather always like this?!". I thought it best to be honest with him and said "for this time of year...yes". He didn't look pleased.
