Still working on my sitcom idea (now with two others onboard)
However:
Many moons ago I used to draw single cartoons for national newspapers.
Been thinking lately about doing it again this year some time.
Just wondered... if I did, would anyone be interested in writing gags?
Obviously I'd do my own stuff aswell but thought many of you may have material which could possibly be used. Maybe some of you may wish to just have a go at it.
My suggestion being, those that wanted to, would send me their ideas, I'd pick those that made me chuckle/feel would sell and draw them up and send them on.
Any that sell, we would go 50/50.
Back when I used to draw 'em the price varied up to £40 per single cartoon (that must of been 18 years ago 'ish) not sure how much more the fetch now.
Would anyone be interested?
I tried this too a few years ago and the price was still £40. a cartoon. The only national that still does it regular is the Sun. Its very competative and unless you are very good and quite prolific its difficult to break into, you are basically waiting to fill dead mens shoes. If you checkout the Sun toons they are pretty much the same cartoonists all the time. Good luck though and with the help of the people on here prolificness might not be a problem providing the drawing is acceptable. You used to have to send them on A5 paper and 12 at a time, so good luck.
