The Green Green Grass - Series 4 Page 2

I watched this and again, thought it was alright and passable. Had its moment but never really going to break new ground. Missed all of series 3 but not really too fussed about watching it.

They missed a great opportunity when Marlene said something about 'watching repeat of Top Gear on UKGold. I found myself wishing she'd said Only Fools and Horses cos that would have f**ked with everyone's head and got a much bigger laugh.

Wish this series was axed!

I enjoyed this episode but I think they should end it after this series.

I can't believe they're still churning this out. I think Sullivan should have left the OFAH characters where they belonged because any show he used them in could never match the original series.

Well, in which case you won't like the latest rumour. If the show gets a 5th series Sullivan is going to ask the main stars of Only Fools And Horses to make an appearance.

It's certainly heading towards overlap territory, the Driscoll brothers return next week:

You're right, I don't! :(

They say that with every series. Does anyone remember back in 2005 when John Challis was asked whether Del and Rodney will make an appearence, he said, "Anything can happen if we get a second series". And then when they do, they say the same thing, but Jason and Lyndhurst are never in it. It's almost like they're bribing the BBC to re-commision it.

I don't know what ratings are "good" or "bad", but it seems they think 2 or 3 million viewers is rather healthy. There are about 60 million people in this country, and if only 2 million are watching GGG (or rather just switch on their TV. It's BBC One, so it comes on automatically) then I can't see how they are good ratings. At the end of the day, if a sitcom has been re-commissoned four times (five if you count the pilot being commissoned) then it's more to do with internal politics over at Broadcasting House than whether or not the programme is any good.

And I rather think Jason and Lyndhurst have already been asked. If it was up to me, I'd make sure both of them had inked the contract and put said contract in a bank vault before deciding on another series. After they made an appearence, I'd cancel the show and tell Challis he should to beggar off and do another season as King Rat in Jack and the Beanstalk instead.

60 million.
- People who don't have access to a television.
- People out being morally repugnant.
- People playing computer games.
- People otherwise not at home in front of the set.
- People online.
- People watching any one of the other thousands of TV channels.

= 2/3 million.

True, it is just a rumour this time too. But, then again, after last time they said it, After You've Gone came around. But now Nicolas Lyndhurst is out of a job, he's more likely to say yes. I doubt David Jason would do it for credibility reasons, but if the money is right... who knows! I certainly think people like Patrick Murray and Paul Barber would accept the casting call.

It definitely is! In this multi-channel, computer games, internet world, getting 1/30th of the population to watch your channel at the same time is an achievement. Ratings don't include iPlayer or PVR catch-ups, so it's probably more than 1/30th anyway.

Big mistake.

First of the Summer Wine anyone?

Actually I didn't mind that but nobody else did.

Iiiiinteresting. Very interesting. I know I'll be in a minority to say this, but I'd quite like to see it made.

Very good episode last night. Despite being in a bad mood it managed to make me laugh out loud on quite a few occasions. One of the better episodes from the series to date.

Mediocre episode from a mediocre programme.

People listening through walls by pressing their ear up against a glass.

Sheep in Caravans.

Absolute Rubbish.

Sheep in caravans? Were we watching the same episode? I don't remember that at all.
