Sitcoms you would bring back Page 9

Whilst I can't argue with the notion that shows end for a reason, I do have to disagree with the idea that nothing should be brought back. If only because it has been done so well in the past: Steptoe And Son returning after 5 years, the Sykes And A... format being revived, and also the Happy Ever After to Terry & June transition.

Have you any idea what those talents might have created if they *hadn't* brought back tried and tested characters?

I'll grant you Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads and maybe even the early series of In Sickness and in Health as decent examples of sitcoms that used the same characters later on in a reasonable way. But they would have been wrong to try and make The Likely Lads or Til Death Us Do Part. I think that's my point. I think.

The other sitcom I think could be good bringing it back for a one-off special is Keeping Up Appearances. Only Rose and Daddy would be absent... As I suggested in another thread, imagine something along the lines of Onslow and Daisy win the lottery, to Hyacinth's disgust, as they have got something for doing nothing forever... Imagine her at the end describing Daisy's house as the one with the swimming pool and room for a pony, or some joke like this. I reckon that could be good. What do you guys think?

That would be great. Patricia Routledge is a comedy ledge, especially the twitching lip thing she gave Hyacinth. Absolute genius.

Really? I thought she died. There is always that option then...

Shirley Stelfox was the original Rose before being replaced by Mary Millar who remained until the series ended.

Mary Millar died in 1998 which is probably what you are thinking of.

I'm Alan Partridge (a new series)
15 Storeys High
Nathan Barley

I'd love to see Angelo's back again, I thought it wasn't brilliant but not given the right slot. That Sean Lock one too 15 Storeys or something was brilliant but not marketed right.

Bottom, with Ritchie and Eddie in prison.

Would that be retitled Raped Bottom?
