Unknown Puppet Comedy Series

Hey guys,

maybe someone here can alleviate me of this vague memory that's been bugging me.

Okay. Puppet show. I'm sure it was Australian. Definitely shown on Channel 4 in the 90s around the 6-7pm timeslot that they used to use for sitcoms (before the antichrist that is Hollyoaks came into being).

It was a bit grimy and gross I seem to recall. It was about animals (maybe Australian in origin) and bugs (cockroaches?) and it was shot really low in a kitchen or shop set.

That's all I've got. Sorry. But it's been driving me nuts for months now. I can't find any trace of it online.

Can anybody help?

Australian and comedy? Are you sure? Eh?

I think I know what you mean. Did it have a French cockroach Chef or something?

Wasn't that a Henson show?

Ooh! Ooh! It might have done! That sparked something up there!

And it might well have been Henson.

No, wait. I Googled "cockroach chef" and its only brought up some Jim Henson show called The Animal Show which isn't the thing I'm thinking of. I'm sure it's not Henson - I remember it being a bit grimy.

I found this, but it's not what I was thinking of.

Henson's chef was Swedish, I think, too.

Hmm.

I also have a very vague recollection of something along these lines, glaikit. Hmm.

Laughing out loud

"Yes, we have met before. In your nightmares!"

Round The Bend? (on ITV I think)

I have no idea where the Australian bit came into it, by the way.

It wasn't funny?

It wasn't funny?

I think it was a children's comedy puppet show.

Or an adult's horror series?

Or an adult's horror series?

As a lot of kid's TV seems to your average adult. Just look at that 'Singing Ringing Tree' show or some of the stuff featured on the recent Charlie Brooker show- terrifying.
