What was this show...?

Okay... What was this show...?

I'm trying to think of the name of a strange but good comedy series.

Here's what I know...

1) It was aired in (I think) 2006.
2) It was a spoof "talking heads" show.
3) It was set about 20 years into the future.
4) The talking heads were reminiscing about spoof events of 2007 and 2008.
5) It featured middle-aged versions of Ant And Dec.
6) The first talking head scene featured a bloke saying "Remember petrol? Cor dear. What was that all about?"

It only ran for one series, which is a shame as it was original and showed promise.

It was either on BBC Two or C4.

It also kept mentioning Dragon's Den (and performed funny D-Den spoofs of crazy inventions, cleverly cut with real footage of the Dragons) which actually got me into watching Dragon's Den.

Was it that Armando Iannuci thing?

Sounds like Time Trumpet.

"around this time, Tesco's slogan changed from 'every little helps' to 'We control every aspect of your lives...'"

Yeah, that's what it was...
... Armando Iannuci's Time Trumpet.

Thanks. :)

And out on DVD in March, I believe. And not before time. Marvellous programme.

I do hope they make another series as, like I've said before, it's very rare that I laugh at anything made after 2000.

Mind you, it is very "cult" and "marmite" so it won't appeal to everyone.

Oh, and call me strange, but I don't tend to buy DVDs as I'm not the sort to watch things over and over again.

Mikey J, you're strange. Oh, sorry, you said to 'not' call you strange...bugger...

I did some of my own Time Trumpet films which were runners-up in a BBC comp.

Never liked it. It was all a bit high concept and "Ooo aren't we clever" for my liking. I liked Buxton's Dennie Digit though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zxZ9TmMSvY

I'm the same, and yet addicted to buying DVDs. Ordered another load just today. :)

DVDs are great to watch when you have people over... Always a good experience to watch shows with people who have never heard of them, see them laugh their asses off and fall in love with it.

Or they "don't get it" and you never look at them the same again. Errr

Time Trumpet was rather funny actually, I'm definitely going to buy this when it comes out.

I don't see it as a cult type programme though, it just had a good twist to it that allowed some more comedy to be squeezed out of a topical format.

And what's wrong with watching DVDs again, like Aaron I'm addicted to buying and watching DVDs. :P

Doesn't this describe Armando Ianucci's entire career?

Well prezunctly.
