Oh it's just persistence.

This is supposed to make me feel better?
Anyway good luck with finding that publisher.

Think how I feel! I've bloody finished mine.
Goals for 2009:
1. Learn to act at a professional level. DOUBLE THREAT!
2. Batter the broadcasters into submission with a sketch show pilot so good, they'll be unable to say no
3. Get someone to give a whiff of a shit about my sitcom
4. Finally get the sketches I shot in 2008 edited
5. Annihilate the non-believers
Which school Mr Bussell? Poor school?

School?
Place where you learn to be an actor.

Oh, I see. I've enrolled at Morley College on the advice of a couple of friends. More than anything I need to get comfortable making a prick of myself in a public. I can do it in real life and on forums but for some reason I seize up when there's a film crew about.
Morley College, cool you'll learn to be a deep voiced eccentric lovey.

From what I've seen your acting is very good. But I know what you mean about in front of a camera and crew.
I did think about doing a method acting course, and I might still. But I can see myself being the idiot of the class and making stupid jokes because I feel self-conscious and the other people on the course are taking it too seriously.
I've been on a few acting courses in the past - some good, some not so good. Once you learn a few techniques experience is probably your best teacher. You already have that. I joined an Am Dram Society to get some experience and ended up co-running my own group and teaching a youth group. That was a very long time ago and from what I can see, techniques have changed only in technical ways, such as the use of mics on stage rather than voice projection.
You might find individual singing lessons useful too - they can help with performance, posture, projection, voice control etc.
I've made myself a one-morning-a-week "actually write comedy" promise. Not just talk about it. Not just teach it. Not just write about it. All of which I've done over the years. Actually sit down and get on with it, without excuses. Except maybe the rather pressing one of last year's tax return, which I notice may involve money from writing, but seriously not enough of it in the 'comedy' column of my excel 'what-the-F-do-I-do-with-my-life' spreadsheet.
It'll either kill me, or be lovely. Those of you who know me - please nag me! On Tuesdays.
1) Write down ideas the minute they occur to me, instead of saying 'oh, I'll remember it.' I sometimes do, but mostly I remember that there was something I needed to remember
2) Send out sketches
3)Send out pilots. I have two that got rejected once a piece and I shelved them. (The H.P. Lovecraft business model)
4) Finish typing new pilot
5) Send out screenplay
6) Finish screenplay (stopped after 50 pages, seemed too expensive)
7) Act again
8) Try not to feel like I need to pass out or vomit every time I have to call a production company For some reason, it's much worse than the anxiety I had when I was on stage or doing stand up.

Hi Gill - I think we've met - if you're the same Gill from The Cooper's.
