Remakes better than the original? Page 3

Yes that is all very true. But I was looking for straight-up remakes where exactly the same story happens to exactly the same characters, more or less. It seems to work well in drama but not comedy for some reason.

I think they tend to remake films that they are guanteed to be able to push at a young male teenage market, hence the miriad of sci-fi and horror remakes. Also, comedy is difficult enough to get right once, let alone twice.

Although not as good as the original, I enjoyed the recent version of Assault on Precinct 13.
