4LAUGHS IS CLOSING

"After three years, hundreds of sketches and videos, two Secret Policeman's Ball appearances, one Friday Night Project appearance (in drag) and a BAFTA nomination it's with great sadness we have to announce we're closing the site.

We've had a great time working on 4Laughs, and we hope we've helped some of you along the way as well. Hopefully we'll return at some point in the not-too distant future!

Thanks for the laughs!

The 4Laughs Team!

If you'd like to leave some comments about the site, please do, I'd love to read them...

A teary farewell,

Fay James
4Laughs Editor

4 Laughs was a great opportunity for budding comedyists. It opened doors for quite a few people which can only ever be a good thing, and also introduced the late great Yielding to us.

Big up Channel 4 for sticking with the site for so long. Let's hope they do something similar in the future.

That's a shame I know alot of the members here who are members of 4laughs and hold it in high regard, and although I only used it occasionally it is a shame to see it go.

I'm sure someone who is better at this kinda thing will sum it up better then me. But its a shame and it'll be missed.

It is a sad day indeed. I know there was at some point a fair bit or anomisity to 4Laughs and the people from the site but I KNOW it has given people some amazing opportunites and experiences.

I for one have made some amazing life long friends from there, Rosemary, the Slaggs, Otterfox, Ruby, Fay, Anna Black, Charity and Anne-Marie and many many others.

Without 4Laughs there would be no JunkMales, and I wouldn't even be writing comedy again, it has been a huge inspiration to me to see others work out there,

Why not revisit 4Laughs and post on the forums before it closes about how much 4Laughs meant to you.

A big thank you to Fay, Davina, Chris and even Ric and all the other people behind it.

Danny

I haven't been back at 4laughs for ages but I will miss it. I meant some great people there and got a lot of encouraging advice from Ric Micheal.

As they are closing, lets be prepared for the wave of forumless wanderers we must take pity on at this season of good will. I'll get the soup on. :(

We let too many in last time. I'm with Griff - let them join the ministry of sound forum.

Sad news indeed. I hope you yourself are on to bigger and better things Fay, Well done for al the encouragemnent and enery and best of luck for the future!

I just started enjoying 4laughs. Oh well you folks will have to start posting more here. Good luck whatever path is on.

4Laughs started well, and I enjoyed being a part of it, but then the bottom seemed to drop out and the 4 clearly weren't bothered about it anymore; I'm pretty surprised it limped on for as long as it did really. It's a shame as, like I say, for the first six months-to-a-year it looked like it was going to be a really good and useful place to mooch about in.

DAMN YOU, 4LAUGHS! DAMN YOUUUUU!

Why did it close? Just another victim of the recession?

It's a shame to see it go, thanks for all your work Fay and good luck in the future.

Sad Pie

Bye, bye 4Laughs, bye, bye Wave

For some reason 4laughs won't let me log on today - so I will post what I wanted to say here: Warning - cheese alert!

I have made some really good friends there, people who have not only become good mates for life, but with whom I can swap and share writing experiences, opinions, contacts and opportunities.

It was thanks to 4laughs that I was able to get my first song demo made (thanks Marc) and where I started learning the craft of making videos and audios. I was particularly proud to be voted 'First Lady of 4laughs' last year.
I am grateful for the feedback and support I got, particularly from Tim Searle.

I was able to attend a residential BBC course and a day course (after winning a BBC writing comp) with help from Danny, who came with me as my enabler and did a fantastic job of looking after me (you should all try his scrambled egg sometime). I have enjoyed taking part in others' audios and videos and providing music for some.

I also have a mug and even won some money!

I will miss the forums, particularly the 'Non Smoking Room' and all the fun we had there.

Thanks Fay, Davina, Chris and everyone who made 4laughs such a great site to be involved in.

I look forward to more projects with people I met there - including Frank, who still hasn't collected his hat! xx

It is with utter bitterness, of never winning anything, I say "good riddance". But then I remember the Junk Males formed there and it just makes me plain hate filled that it didn't... close down quicker!

;) :P
