There's a radio documentary on Radio 2 at 10 o'clock on Sunday night about the Carry Ons, narrated by Leslie Phillips.

Carry On Forever! It's called and episode one is on Monday night and episode two the following day.

Very interesting documentary - apart from the bloke pretending to be Kenneth Williams. His Frankie Howerd wasn't too bad but what was the point?

He's always showing off that one, I think it might be same one who played Noel Coward in Goodnight Sweetheart.

Part 2 about to start in about 5 minutes.

His name is David Benson and he did play Noel Coward in Goodnight Sweetheart as well as doing countless one man shows. He's a very talented and lovely man. I'm seeing him on Sunday.

I'm sorry - he spoiled it for me. Being on radio the voice has to be exact. Maybe visually he can carry it off better. I just thought it was a totally unnecessary intrusion.

I thought it livened up the show. Better then just hearing archive footage. It was a nice mix. I haven't listened to tonight's episode yet but will in a minute so I'll judge properly then. But I enjoyed his intrusions.

No - he didn't sound enouigh like him. Only about 60% of the voice.

No - he didn't sound enough like him. Only about 60% of the voice.

I'll admit he's performed it better. But I still think it wasn't bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F_603CuZ48

Next time a Kenneth Williams impression is required, this chap should get the job. He sounds just like him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbgfWvr6QFQ

Your impression of Kenneth WIlliams is better than that one James.

:) Thanks. I think Eh?

I watched a few of the Carry On films over the festive period, the first I had watched them in years. I think they were very much of their time and have not dated well.

I seem to remember watching Camping years ago and enjoying it, but on watching it again a few weeks ago, Oh dear. Dreadful plot, I mean Sid James how old is he supposed to be in the film, chasing Babs Windsor who I assume was a teenager, poor gags and too reliant on smut as opposed to comedy. Some of them are mildy amusing, Screaming, Cowboy and Cabby but generally I think they should be left in the past
