Oliver Postgate RIP

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7772620.stm

I guess many people on here, like me, grew up with this man's creations and have been influenced by his work. RIP Mr Postgate.

Very sad. He had a great imagination.

A man who really knew how to make childrens' TV that kids would still like when they were older.

What them said.

Sad news. I love the way they made their films in a cow shed. And the commissioning process seems a far cry from the 'demographic' obsessed process these days.

F**kin hell! Everybody who worked in telly is dying.

I was a Clanger.

RIP.

Totty was a little bit creepy and completely charming.

Aw no! :(

Man was a legend, came to out school once.

I remeber staring in awe at Professor Yaffle in a glass case.

You lucky bugger. Yaffle was such a brilliant character.

Aww I loved him, and so did Emily.

I grew up with Noggin. And then the Clangers were a welcome relief from the Magic Roundabout.

He was ace, he will be missed an era has gone with him.

Now back to the soul less CGI and Ragdoll Giberish.

I have been buying all the Smallflims productions for my niece. It is an excuse for me to watch them again but she loves them also. They are ageless, perhaps because they were made with love and have a soul. And, as Nick said, they would never be made today.

Bagpus was a great show. And strangely poignant.
