And I'm a TV snob! Page 3

It's trash TV. It's like chocolate or something. You don't need it, but it tastes quite good and not much else.

I would watch eight years ago, when this whole thing was still new; now it's just boring and far too overblown. Though those silly videos they play of each singer, swooping in at them, looking all moody, are quite unintentionally amusing I suppose. As is having Danni Minogue and Cheryl Cole as musical mentors. And Louis Walsh, come to that. He's like a slug.

Ah, but that wasn't the question.

I know, just asking.

Walsh, like Cowell, isn't stupid. He's created and been involved with lots of successful acts - mainly Girls Aloud, who, as a pop outfit are nothing short of phenomenal.

Oh . . .Sorry Stott.

Then no, they're not.

Is he involved in them? He wasn't a judge when they were created though, was he? Wasn't it still Pete Waterman and Cowell? I thought his big act were boring old Westlife?

Walsh took Girls Aloud, Waterman took One True Voice (remember them?) to battle for No 1. Walsh and GA won. Shows how a good marketing campaign, good styling and direction and good song choices win through. GA are average vocalists, apart from Nadine. In fact watch their old auditions on YouTube and you'll see how far behind the X Factor lot they are. But Walsh worked his magic and made a mint. Waterman, out of fashion and out of touch, disappeared back into nowhere. Luckily he was a pop genius in the 80s and therefore still has lots of cash.

What do you mean he took them? They're not really young boys are they?

Not in a naughty way. He managed them.

Same thing isn't it as far as he's concerned.

Yeah, but that's because it's too modern for you. I mean if it's anything other than Gregorian Chant you probably don't know it.

:D

Though, for what it's worth, Will Young is great vocalist and has released some solid pop songs. He also seems like a nice guy.

And Jeremy Clarkson's boyfriend.

But Walsh worked his magic and made a mint.

Well, asked some good pop song writers to produce some shiny hits for them.

For himself.

Sounds like prison slang.

Anyone can find good songs. I've got dozens of them!!!!

I considered myself a TV snob until recently. Don't watch soaps or X Factor or Celebrity Get Me a Job. Favourite station BBC 2. And then Strictly comes along and my mates call me a girly and make me wear pink. What the f**k?
