Our car is W0LF with some other numbers.
Which is quite cool, but we wouldn't have got that on purpose.
I remember there was a mad scramble to buy MR51 NGH at a DVLA auction in 2001.
Anyone know how much it sold for?
I assume some rich Indian (other than Lakshmi Mittal) bought it.

Why are you assuming this?

Because Singh is an extremely common name, particularly as a surname, with Sikhs. IIRC, it means tiger.

Is he your boyfriend?
Personalized number plates cost a fortune here - they are around 2,500 pounds, and that, my friends, it is a pretty decent penny here. It used to be 550 pounds a couple of years ago.
I personally do not mind them - if I had some money, I'd probably grab one: the problem is, my nick has nine symbols, but only 8 are allowed to be on the plate. Duh.
the regular number plates here have Letter-Letter - 1-4Digit system (e.g., HL-1000), so... when I bought the car, I asked at the showroom for a number plate to commemorate the year I started to listen to the music I listen to these days. Only my closest friends get it, then Even my wife didn't and asked rather icily why I could not commemorate the year we met or got married, or something... The replay "which is more important, man's wife or his car" was not a wise idea.
The most popular regular number plates are those with 777 - I've been told they fetch as much as personalized plates, in black (or, rather - grey, as it is not illegal) market.

Marc, you never need a good excuse to drink top whisky. Live life for today, let your liver worry about tomorrow.

So you break even after a mere 62 years ...

Then 'private market', I think you mean.
When I bought my Old Seat Ibiza it had the private number plate VIK 4 69, sadly never met the previous owner when it was transfered back.

Ha! That took me an embarassingly long time to get then.
