It is if it's sex let me tell you!

I dont think it was meant literally.....5 secs of boredom probably wont be a deal breaker either!

No, I know that! But you often see feedback that presumes that audiences can't figure (or won't try to figure) anything out themselves and everything has to be spelt out, very quickly, in as few words as possible.

Does anyone know what Russell T Davies was referring to when he said the opening line was "Happy wedding day sis" (or something?)

I want to know that too!

Presumably he was just pointing out that it was a clunky way of explaining it was her wedding day as nobody ever says happy wedding day I guess?

Nooooooo.

We want to know what show it was that did that. It sounded like it was a real one, not a made up example.

I'd say happy wedding day if it was someone's wedding day and I wanted to wish them a happy day.

Oh! Don't know, didn't see the show. Too busy researching for my writing down the pub.

I wished someone a happy honeymoon a month ago? And yesterday I wished somebody "a bloody good babyscan!". Does that count, even though it was exposition?

You are, officially 'clunky'. ;)

Yeah, so that's a no then!

I'm going to go home tonight and put "Happy Wedding Day!" in one of my scripts. And then I'm going to get it commissioned and broadcast, just to get one over on you, Marc. :)

LOL

I'm sure RTD said something along the lines of "I saw this show - and this is true - the opening line was "Happy wedding day sis"!". So it was a real show he was referring to.

It actually sounds like something you'd get in Doctors. With David Sneddon saying it, in his first dramatic role.

I'm not even a writer and I found that programme inspiring. Hell! It's the reason I'm on this forum now. I've always wanted to write and started to do so about 10 years ago but it got brushed aside. My head has been racing all morning with ideas and I think it's about time I started getting them on paper and seeing what I come up with!
