The Mistress

Hi

Has anyone seen a comedy called The Mistress with Felicity Kendal & what did they think of it?

I'm afraid not, but I would like to. Is it out on DVD in Canada?

Carla Lane?

Correct.

Rings a vague bell. I probably did but you can't really imagine her as a mistress can you. She's too nice.

As I recall that was rather the problem with the show.

But my dim recollection maybe conflated with her other Carla Lane penned vehicle, Solo

It vaguely rings a bell and I think Felicity Kendal did a follow up series called Solo.

Can't remember which of them I saw though.

Ditto for me too.

Which just about sums up most of the replies thus far; We're all a bit vaguely ditto on this one.

I remember it as well, think it was from the 1980s.

1985 - 1987 apparently. :)

I remember it as being bland but likeable, and you only really watched it because at the time the entire nation was in love with Felicity Kendall.

Almost the entire nation.

Rather ironically Chappers...

She was actually the playwright Tom Stoppard's Mistress around this time. (He was still married to Mirriam Stoppard).

I saw the show - The Mistress - when it was first broadcast. It was nasty, and not porn nasty, either.

I'm intrigued. Why nasty?

Is it a British version of Babet Schroeder's Maistresse with Bulle Orgier? A favourite gem in my 'arthouse' movie collection.
