I guess the person who wrote it has never actually worked, or in fact, been in an actual phone shop. Why were the characters all so unbelievable? And the what the hell was with the fake gangsta accents?!

Yup. Lance (the manager) was the funniest (and sadly, possibly the most realistic) character IMO. Although perhaps that was more Martin Trenaman than the character... But anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing him in a show of his own. If the series drops the two thoroughly unlikeable male salesmen (or at very least significantly scales down) and gives him a greater role then it could be good. But I doubt that that will happen.

Whereas I thought the actor portraying the manager was very good, I found the character to be totally one dimensional and not that realistic.
I have yet to start a job where the boss tells me on the first day that he likes jerking off a lot.
Have ammended the previous post, RC.
Perhaps not realistic himself, but comparitive to the others. Although perhaps that's because he had so little screen time?
Mark Trenaman is a great actor, brilliant in 15 Storeys High. I found his character in this though unrealistic and very 2D. I also think Emma Fryer is a good actress, I love her in Ideal and she was probably the character I liked most in this. But still, that wasn't enough to save it from being a steaming pile of turd.
Is it the David Cross one next week?
Next week is Children In Need, so C4 are just sticking on a repeat of Friday The 13th: Part III. The following week however, the 27th, is David Cross.
I couldn't help but think that this show could have done with the casting of Mssrs. Merchant, Williamson and Gaffney.
