INT. – SUBMARINE – NIGHT

Sleeping cabin, with crewman in bunk.

FX - doop noise of sub's sonar system.

Cut to sub's control deck.

CAPTAIN
Everything OK back there with the readings Control?

CONTROL
All readings as per normal captain.

Cut to sleeping cabin, crewman can't sleep, tossing and turning in bed.

FX - doop.

Back to control deck.

CAPTAIN
It's looking like a quiet one tonight.

CONTROL
Seems that way sir.

Back to cabin and crewman pull covers over head.

FX - doop.

Back to control deck.

CAPTAIN
How long before your shift ends control?

CONTROL
Any minute now sir, just waiting to be relieved.

CAPTAIN
Off you go then, we can manage from here.

Back to cabin.

FX - doop.

CREWMAN
(peeved)
Argh!

Control enters cabin.

CREWMAN
Oh thank God for that, do us a favour mate and turn that bloody tap off will ya?

FX doop.

Cut's to sound of tap dripping into sink full of water.

I just don't get it prehaps its just me, it was nice and cleanly written you dont need to wirte "cut to:" though just put INT:/EXT: Then the location us lowly script writers dont get to dictate camera movements thats directors job

It's OK Gavin and you're not ragging on me.

I seem to go from one extreme to the other in either too much info or not enough but the basic joke is the FX "Doop" you hear intermittently throughout the sketch, makes you think that it's the radar/sonar/noise/bleeping/thingy (I'm sure that's not the technical name for it) that submarines make, when all along it's actually the noise of the dripping tap, which was irritatating the crewman but he was too lazy to get up and sort it.

The direction instructions were my way of trying to convey the switching back and forth between the two settings, namely the control room and the cabin quarters.

Visually it would either keep cutting from one to the other or alternatively would have a split screen with both settings being shown on screen at the same time.

i dont know about that scott t, but i do know i liked the sketch, it played out well, and the ending is very well constructed and it is funny, well done.
