Chalk - Series 1 DVD
I half remember watching this at the time. It got slated back then, didn't it? Can't remember if I actually liked it or not.
It got attacked by the press. In that it was controversial, rather than crap.
I was in the studio audience for the taping of the first episode of Chalk. I didn't laugh once, although plenty of people did. The sets, cameras and lighting were more interesting than the show being acted out.
Blimey. That's quite damning. I thought episode 1 was the strongest of the lot!
To be fair, I never actually viewed the finished episode on TV, so perhaps it was better post-production. I remember it ending with John Wells, who was playing the headmaster, smoking a joint (such clever comedy). He then took a bow with the other cast members and hurried off the set.
I don't recall a joint, but it's been a few months since I watched it last.
