118 118 Need Jokes Page 4

Yes but these guys seem to want truly biblical quantities.

You gonna send some?

Whipes away tear as Airbook Lite floats away.

I've been writing these sort of gags for greetings cards for 13 years, and thus I have 13 years worth of rejected material sitting around in dusty piles, unloved and forlorn.

Not any more though. Mwah -hah - haaahh!

Still - 30 quid a pop? Bit stingey - The cards pay 125 and were paying 100 quid 10 years ago.

125 quid for a greetings card gag? Holy shit

Just sold two gags!!

Cha-ching!!!

Howdcha know?

Jack just emailed me and gave me instructions on how to get me pennies.

I have 5 at the moment. They are one liners, is it best to have the long story ones (I seem to get forwarded them a lot) if that's the case I'm sure I could stretch them out.

110 characters.

Wouldn't that get confusing? :P

Should I post them in critique after I send or what for a reply?

Don't put ones you send in critique unless you know they've been rejected.

I suspect Jack or 118 118 google to see how original jokes are, if they're up any where you may not get paid.

I think the rule is you get copyright back after 4 weeks.

Have you sold or submitted 5?

Actually it's 150 now.

Don't forget though I have to send in 100-150 ideas a week to make any money. On average I generally sell 1 idea for every 20 I submit. So it's a lot of slog, especially when you've got diarreah and don't feel particularly jocular.

Sounds like good money (in theory) if just 10 greeting card gags a week get accepted, it'll net you £1500.

....or have I got the wrong end of the stick about earning that much for 10?

I don't think I could think up 100 -150 gags per week. It DOES sound like a hard slog.

My dog has no nose...
My cat has no nose...
My hamster has no nose...
My rabbit has no nose...
My fish has no nose...

It's all in the writing technique.
