Vegetarian Friendly

WESTCOUNTRY BUTCHERS SIGN
"VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY MEAT"

LADY CUSTOMER
Vegetarian meat (beat) so it's not really meat then is it?

BUTCHER
Oh arrh it's meat alright but it is suitable for vegetarians

LADY CUSTOMER
But the whole point is we vegetarians DON'T eat meat

BUTCHER
Nope and neither did the animals that we got the meat from, they were all vegetarians

LADY CUSTOMER
That's daft, just because the animal is vegetarian, it doesn't make the meat "VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY".

BUTCHER
And why not?

LADY CUSTOMER
I am a vegetarian and the reason I don't eat meat is because I don't agree with killing animals for food.

BUTCHER
Oh I see, I've got just the thing for you then

HE SHOWS HER ANOTHER PIECE OF MEAT

LADY CUSTOMER
That's a leg of lamb isn't it

BUTCHER
Yep it's from out amputee range, the sheep it came from is still obblin around quite appily

WOMAN LEAVES THE SHOP THREATENING TO REPORT THE BUTCHER TO THE TRADING STANDARDS OFFICE. AS SHE DOES THE BUTCHER CALLS AFTER HER

BUTCHER
Can I interest you in some pork skin graft scratchings?
Bloody vegetarians, there's no pleasing them!

Ooh sorry but Nando's have a joke about this on all their menus.

Oh well worth a go. Who the bloody hell are Nandos? Us West Country folk don't have such things

Apologies big SOuth African chicken chain that's all over London.

Yes, I have heard Bobby Thompson A.K.A The little waster doing a similar joke about a leg of pork.

I liked it and it is well written but if it's already been done, that's the way it goes.

Thanks Leevil, like you say it may have been done (I wasn't aware) but it can still work, if done nicely, like the three midgets joke on this weeks comp.

I think the idea of an "amputee range" of lamb legs is very clever.

Is that the Nando's menu joke? (I've never heard of Nando's either.)

They have a thing on all their menus saying all our meals vegetarian, they're made from vegetarian chickens.

If you haven't been to a Nando's they're ace.

Sketch is slickly done.
