I just wanted something different, I know Lee Mack was busy on the night, but he would have been great.

Well they went with a safe and easy choice I guess.

That's what I said in an earlier post, Deayton would be the easy option. Even Jimmy Carr would have been ok.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I'd seen Steve Edge starring in That Peter Kay Thing 8 years ago... not to mention taking on key roles in another five or so sitcoms in the last decade? Have the panel not seen I'm With Stupid, Mike Bassett, Star Stories or any of the other shows he's been in?

I think they probably mean 'best new main character'. As far as I'm aware Edge hasn't really taken on a main role in a sitcom before...but I may be wrong.

And surely Ben and Karen from Outnumbered should be in the Best Newcomer categories?

How bloody dare Mathew Horne be nominated for Best Actor? I'm sorry, but he's crap. There. Said it.

Deayton is a safe choice - I'm not too upset to hear that news.

I know what you mean, but he had lead roles in Star Stories and I'm With Stupid in 2006 and was most defintely one of the leads in The Visit last year.

Good call!

Awwww!

They wouldn't be allowed to attend though. Past their bedtime.

I kind of agree with that. I think Gervais will win that one, hope he turns up.

To my recollection, although I enjoy watching the show on the night, they almost allllways give the awards to the people I don't want to win.

I always get annoyed.

So I expect Horne will win. :)
(I did like him in Teachers though.)

I don't think that Jimmy Carr has the same kind of 'bite' as Deayton and Ross. Although I don't know how to explain it. :)
